About Oak Hill Nursery

Oak Hill Community Nursery is owned, directed and managed by members of the community. It is a purpose built and self – contained facility within Hatcham Oak Children’s Centre.

Our aim is to provide high quality care and education for all children who attend, by delivering an active play based learning programme in a caring, safe, welcoming, relaxed, stimulating and vibrant environment. The environment reflects the diversity of social and cultural backgrounds of the community and all children, parents/carers and families are valued and respected.

The nursery provides full and part time fee paying places for children from 6 months to rising 5 and is open from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 51 weeks of the year.

We pride ourselves on working in partnership with all parents and carers in supporting your understanding of your child’s developmental and learning needs, both at the nursery and at home to help maximise your child’s learning potential and raise achievement, ready for the next phase of their learning journey. Our aim is to develop and maintain strong links with the community and other professionals in support of the families who use the nursery. All staff are encouraged to continue their professional development both in house and externally to promote and maintain excellent quality childcare and best practice in the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

We wanted to say a huge thank you for how well you’ve handled the covid pandemic at the nursery. We have felt confidence in your changes from the start, from what you’ve introduced to how you’ve communicated them. The past year has been such a tough time for everybody but it has been touching how you have all always had welcoming and warm smiles! Having been at Oak Hill for almost 2.5 years now we are so pleased we chose to send our children here and look forward to our 3rd joining the team this year! All the nursery staff are lovely and friendly and are the reason our children love coming here. Thank you for everything you continue to do!

We’re very grateful to have Oak Hill as part of our life. My son has so much fun with you. Since he joined he has grown in confidence, language skills and ability to play with others. You are always doing or planning cool activities, when we come it is such a joy to see all the children enjoying themselves. I am really impressed with everyone who works with you, from how fast the staff all learnt my sons name, to how you knew it was his birthday. He is a lucky boy and we are lucky parents.

Oak Hill is a God sent Family!! We could not have asked for better care for our children. Thank you for welcoming our children into the Oak Hill family!! All the practitioners are so caring, warm and make you feel such at ease. I was nervous for my child to start nursery but he has settled in so well like his sister. They enjoy being at Oak Hill and I feel at such ease. Thank you for the exceptional care you all dispense to our children. We are truly grateful!! Nothing but love for you all!!

We would like to say thank you for all the hard work you and the team have put into maintaining a warm and nurturing environment at Oak Hill despite everything that is going on. The past 12 months have been very difficult in many ways. It is so comforting to know that one thing we don't need to worry about is Orson's happiness and wellbeing. That is all credit to you and the team. A big thank you once again.

It’s always a nerve wracking time for parents leaving your little one for the first time in any setting. But the Oak Hill team are always so incredibly supportive, friendly and professional. Even during these challenging times, there is a happy atmosphere, with plenty of play, events, and activity happening. We really can’t thank Oak Hill enough.

We continue to be impressed by the high quality of care you provide, even in the worst pandemic to hit this country in 100 years! Our daughter missed her carers and friends so much in the first lockdown, it just went to show what an important part of her life nursery is. It has given her such valuable social skills and we're so pleased that both our children got to spend their time away from home in such a loving and supportive environment. Keep doing what you're doing!
